Recent DOMEX/DOCEX Openings

Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) has two Intelligence Specialist positions (both close April 11, 2012).  The first is in the National Ground Intelligence Center, Exploitation Directorate, Media Exploitation Office and duties include serving as:

a staff or project officer supporting Army/national level programs responsible for developing, fielding, coordinating, operating or enhancing resources for the Army DOMEX Program. . . Evaluate ease of use for collectors, processors & information exploiters, validity of translation and language analysis results, suitability under different field conditions, and integration with legacy systems. Provide technical advice, guidance, and assistance on very difficult or unusual media exploitation problems. 

The second is also located in the National Ground Intelligence Center, Exploitation Directorate, but in the Harmony Program.  Duties include serving as:

a staff or project officer responsible for developing, fielding, coordinating, operating or enhancing resources for aspects of the Foreign Facility Infrastructure and Engineering systems (FIRES) Program; the Harmony Program (which provides the central document and media exploitation repository); or the Army DOCEX Program (which develops and implements a document and media exploitation program). Work requires the primary application of intelligence principles in concert with a practical knowledge of information technology principles. You will perform analytical, administrative, and project coordination duties. Plan, design, analyze, and sustain operational support, databases and software tools in support of both strategic and tactical customers. 

DynCorp is looking for a Staff Officer for Media Management for:

the Document and Media Exploitation (DOMEX) Operations Division in the National Media Exploitation Center (NMEC). Responsible for researching, reviewing, compiling, and crafting acquisition details surrounding batches of acquired media for Intelligence, Defense, Law Enforcement, and Homeland Security Communities to include the Combatant Commands. 

Freedom Consulting Group seeks a Deputy Program Manager with "knowledge of DOMEX processes, Sensitive Site Exploitation, the National and Tactical DOMEX communities, and DOMEX IT processes."

New DOMEX/DOCEX Openings

A reader recently asked about my posting of DOMEX/DOCEX positions. I post them both (1) for any readers that might be interested in the positions and (2) because sometimes the information in the job openings is useful in tracking trends and gleaning other information about DOMEX programs.  Job descriptions from defense contractors in particular are often extremely detailed.

Here are some recent openings:

Six3 Intelligence Solutions, Inc. is looking for a DOMEX (Document and Media Exploitation) Training Integrator whose duties would be at the U.S. Army Intelligence Center (USAIC) at Fort Huachuca, AZ in the "office of the TRADOC Capability Manager for Biometrics and Forensics" to work with the National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC) to begin incorporating "portions of the NGIC DOMEX Training into USAIC core courses and training scenarios."  They are looking for someone with "8 years experience in the field of DOMEX, site exploitation, Weapons Technical Intelligence, Technical Intelligence or Forensics collection."

DynCorp International is looking for a Staff Officer for Media Management for the

Document and Media Exploitation (DOMEX) Operations Division in the National Media Exploitation Center (NMEC). Responsible for researching, reviewing, compiling, and crafting acquisition details surrounding batches of acquired media for intelligence, Defense, Law Enforcement, and Homeland Security Communities to include the Combatant Commands.

Responsibilities also include "preparing, reviewing and submitting official message traffic to advise above-named communities on the transfer of electronic or digital media to the NMEC for exploitation; researches various networks to obtain operational information required to properly identify and prioritize exploitation requirements."

CACI is looking for a DOMEX Instructor/Developer who would provide "DOMEX specific training to members of various services and agencies" and "teach tactics, techniques and procedures for acquisition, exploitation, analysis, integration, and report production specific to DOMEX."

CACI also has openings for a Media Exploitation (MEDEX) Technician/Engineer to "support the Army Document and Media Exploitation (DOMEX) program" in conducting "forensic digital exploitation of various types of electronic media" and examining and correlating "Captured Enemy Document (CED) related information in support of current operations."

Finally, CACI has an interesting job for Software Engineer - Cloud Computing to develop "analytics, services, widgets on the DCGS SIPR Cloud (DSC) for DOMEX." Responsibilities include analyzing "end-user requirements to bring DOMEX information into existing cloud capabilities as well as architect and design new features to bring DOMEX information to the DSC" and "Data modeling to include DOMEX information for ingestion into Cloudbase and advanced indexing schemes and integration into existing and future map-reduce analytics."

Research Analyst Opening at Conflict Records Research Center

There is a new opening for a Research Analyst at the Conflict Records Research Center (CRRC) at the National Defense University.  The vacancy notes that the CRRC "was established to fulfill the Secretary of Defense's intent to enable research into captured records with 'complete openness and rigid adherence to academic freedom and integrity.'"

Duties include providing research support to Director and staff at CRRC, serving as "IT/digital archive expert and local network administrator," producing research finding aids, and working with "various U.S. government agencies and contractors on issues involving the transfer, translation, validation, and provenance of records."

PhD Scholarship and New DOMEX/DOCEX Job Openings

Benjamin Isakhan, whose work on the destruction of Ba'athist property in Iraq I noted in a recent post, sends word that he is currently advertising a PhD scholarship (here and here) for an aspiring PhD student to work with him on a fascinating project, funded by a grant from the Australian government, called "Measuring the Destruction of Heritage and Spikes of Violence in Iraq."  The description states:

Since the invasion of 2003, Iraq has suffered an extraordinary era of both heritage destruction and devastating spikes in violence. The core aim of this project is to empirically test the assumption that a significant relationship exists between these two phenomena. To do this, the project will develop the world's first database of heritage destruction in Iraq via interviews, archival research and fieldwork. This database will then be correlated with existing measures of violence in Iraq to determine the precise nature of their relationship. This will set the precedent for studies of both heritage and violence and enable policy formation towards the minimization of heritage destruction and spikes in violence during times of conflict.

Note that this is based at Deakin University in Australia. Deadline Feb. 13, 2012.

On the DOMEX/DOCEX front, there are also some interesting new job openings:

DynCorp is looking for a Staff Officer to lead and manage "coordination efforts for all NMEC's [National Media Exploitation Center] document and media exploitation (DOMEX) operations on both a domestic and global basis."  The Staff Officer would also act "as NMEC's sole representative when participating in policy discussions and working groups with senior DoD and intelligence senior leadership."

SAIC is advertising for a couple of different positions (here and here) working with the U.S. Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, NC providing, among other things, "Technical Exploitation (TECHEX) and Forensics support (including Document and Media Exploitation (DOMEX) of computers, data storage media/media devices and Cellular Phone Exploitation (CELLEX), including Satellite Phones."  SAIC is also looking for a an Assistant Program Manager to work at Camp As Saliyah, Doha Qatar - the ideal candidate should "understand the IC's (especially DIA's) working environment and the DOMEX process."

DOCEX/DOMEX Job Openings

Two new DOCEX/DOMEX positions with defense contractor STG, Inc. in Reston, VA were recently posted online.  One is for a Program Manager and other for a Deputy Program Manager.  Both announcements note that they relate to

an upcoming opportunity for the Defense Intelligence Agency's (DIA's) National Media Exploitation Center (NMEC). The successful candidate will have an in-depth understanding and knowledge of NMEC's mission and operational execution of document and media exploitation (DOCEX/DOMEX) operations.
